Details of European plan in case of gas stop from Russia are disclosed

The European Union intends to voluntarily reduce gas consumption within the association by 15% – due to the risks of complete termination of gas supplies from Russia, the EU plan called “Gas Saving for a safe winter” says, which Bloomberg got acquainted.

It is noted that the European Commission should submit the full version of the document on Wednesday, July 20. Bloomberg claims that, within the framework of measures that should help Europe survive the winter without Russian gas, EC offers to reduce the use of heating and cooling systems, and also plans a number of market measures that will allow the balance of demand and supply. In the event of an aggravation of the situation, the EC Omission will have the right to introduce emergency measures by redirecting streams.

According to the agency, the document predicts the fall of the EU GDP by 1.5% in case of harsh winter. At the same time, the key task of the plan is to ensure the delivery of fuel to energy generating capacities. The adoption of the plan will require the consent of all EU members, but not all countries agree to reduce consumption, arguing that they already have national plans for a sharp drop in gas exports.
