The Italian representative of NATO Francesco Maria Talo in an interview with ANSA revealed the details of the new strategic concept of the Alliance, which will be adopted at the NATO June summit in Madrid. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
“We will adjust the status of Russia, which in the previous version was designated as a” partner “. We will include China, which was not mentioned before. We will be thoughtfully approaching modern calls in the field of cybersecurity, hybrid threats, new technologies, climate change” – he specified.
Talo explained that the alliance should now take into account the “destructive consequences” of the elevation of China, especially in the field of technology.
“We are faced with a new power that set ourselves the goal of technological superiority. And this is not democratic,” Talo said.
The accession of Finland and Sweden and the situation in Ukraine will also become topics for discussion at the summit, he noted.
