The Provisional Government Bangladesh decided to cancel the diplomatic passports of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Vajid and former government officials.
According to Dhaka Tribune, officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Provisional Government reported the decision of the cancellation of the diplomatic passports of Khasina, as well as ministers and members of the parliament of the former government.
The necessary procedures have already been launched, the official decree on passports will be issued in the near future, officials noted.
What events preceded?
In mid -July, protest promotions began in Bangladesh after the Supreme Court decided to restore 30 percent of quotas for employment for families of war of the Bangladesh of 1971. The quotas in question were canceled in 2018 against the backdrop of national protests.
At the end of July, the Bangladesh Supreme Court reduced quotas when admitted to the civil service, because of which protests lasted for several weeks.
The Bangladesh government later officially banned the activities of Jamaat-i-Islami and its student wing, assigning responsibility for violence on protests. This time, the inhabitants of Bangladesh went out into the streets, demanding “justice” for the dead during the demonstrations.
During demonstrations in Bangladesh, hundreds of people died, thousands were detained.
Hasina and her sister against the backdrop of riots left the official residence. They went to a safer place in a military helicopter.
On August 8, the Nobel Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus took the oath as the head of the Provisional Government Bangladesh.
