The conditions for negotiations in Ukraine should still ripen. This was announced by TASS by the director of the foreign intelligence service (SVR) of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.
“The fact that negotiations will sooner or later be possible is natural because any conflict, including an armed conflict, ends with negotiations, but the conditions for them should still ripen,” said the director of the SVR.
In addition, Naryshkin confirmed that at the end of June he held a telephone conversation with the head of the CIA William Burns, during which they “thought, reasoned what to do with Ukraine.”
“Yes, indeed, the conversation took place at the end of last month. A pretext for a telephone conversation, as I evaluate, from the side of the American colleague there were events on June 24. It is clear how I answered this question about what happened,” said He.
According to the director of the SVR, “it was more a pretext, because the main part of the conversation was focused on discussing the topics and events around Ukraine.“ Thought, reasoned, but what to do with Ukraine, ”he issued.
According to Naryshkin, the conversation lasted “about an hour.” “They did not agree on the meeting, but such an opportunity exists: both conversations on the phone and the possibility of a personal meeting are preserved,” he added.
Commenting on the NATO summit in Vilnius Naryshkin said that for on it nothing unexpected was sounded for the Russian Federation. “It seems to me that the entire stage of preparation for the summit was quite public, so nothing that could be unexpected for the Russian side was not sounded at the summit and was not recorded in the documents,” said the director of the SVR.
Further, Naryshkin touched on the topic of possible provocations against the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. “The information is constantly received. You may have noticed that the SVR periodically extends part of the information in the public plane in the form or statements of the SVR press bureaus, or in the form of the director’s statements,” he said
