The dismissed ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andrei Melnik admitted that his insulting words to the German chancellor Olaf Sholts were inappropriate, Die Zeit reports.
“Yes, it was probably inappropriate, it was an emotional reaction. Perhaps I should choose other words, but this feeling corresponded to the opinion of all of Ukraine,” said the diplomat.
However, Melnik expressed the opinion that diplomats should not always restrain emotions.
“Diplomat is not a robot. Especially in troubled times, people need emotions and passion,” he said.
We recall that earlier Melnik criticized the country of Olaf Sholts for refusing to visit Kyiv, calling the head of the German government “offended Liver Sausage.”
