Azerbaijani doctors saved the lives of many soldiers during a 44-day war, as a result of which Azerbaijan laid the end of the 30-year occupation of Karabakh.
November 8, Azerbaijan will celebrate the third anniversary of Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War.
With the outbreak of World War II, many Azerbaijani doctors went to the front volunteers. On the occasion of a significant date, the Anadola agency talked with some of them.
The orthopedic traumatologist Afghan Dzhager voluntarily went to the front as the war began.
According to him, he and his colleagues did everything possible to contribute to the struggle of Azerbaijan for their rights.
Afghan emphasized that he was very proud that he served the heroic warriors who liberated the lands of Azerbaijan from the occupation.
He said that during the fighting period he carried out about 140 operations.
“The wounded soldiers literally fought with us so that we signed documents that they recovered. If we did not give permission, then they turned to higher authorities in order to return to the battlefield,” recalls the agency’s interlocutor.
The maxillofacial surgery specialist Vugar Gurbanov also voluntarily went to the forefront in the very first days of the war.
“During my service, I witnessed the heroism of our soldiers and officers. They all dreamed of recovering as soon as possible and return to their combat comrades,” the doctor says.
He recalls that “he saw neither fear nor panic in the eyes of the soldiers, including the wounded.”
Lieutenant of the Medical Service, Rashar Sultan during the Second Karabakh war, was served on the Agdam direction of the front. At the end of the war, he was promoted to captains and awarded medals “For the Homeland” and “For the Liberation of Agdam.”
“This war was a manifestation of unprecedented heroism and self-confidence,” he said.
“We really believed in the victory. When I wanted to send those soldiers who were sick to the hospital, they refused. Like a doctor, I had never seen anything like it before,” says Rashad.
He emphasized that the biggest advantage of the Azerbaijani army in this war was psychological superiority. “We saw this on all soldiers, including the wounded,” the doctor noted.
