British ships are involved in the transportation of Russian oil, despite Western sanctions introduced against Moscow, writes The Independent.
According to the publication, in May, British ships left the harbor at least twice to help pump Russian oil from one tanker to another. They transported oil with a total volume of 165 thousand tons to the Persian Gulf and Singapore area, the publication notes.
It is noted that these supplies are one of the links of the international chain, which helped Russia quickly transfer oil sales to Asia, so European buyers reduced deliveries. The exact amount of Russian oil, in the transportation of which the UK participated, is unknown. As the publication notes, these transportation are not illegal, and nothing prevents British companies from taking part in them, but their very opportunity “indicates huge holes in Western sanctions.”
