In the IT sector of Belarus, the hiring of new employees sharply decreased, while in January-April of this year, 1.5 times more people resigned from companies than employed, reports the relevant DEV.by publication with reference to official statistics.
“from the beginning of the year (January-April), 50% more specialists have resigned from IT companies than employed. According to official statistics, last month more than 3 thousand specialists (new record) fired from the IT companies. 2.2 times more than in April last year, and 36% more than in March this year. The companies did not succeed in compensating for this outflow due to hiring new specialists. Moreover, the situation with employment has become even worse than in March. In April, IT companies were hired only 938 specialists – 46% less than in April last year, and 33% less than in March this year, ”the newspaper writes.
According to the publication, from October 2020 to March 2022, the IT companies of Belarus monthly hired more than 1 thousand employees, “but in April this trend was interrupted.” As a result, the general figure of IT specialists employed this year compared to last year fell for the first time. In total, about 5.5 thousand specialists, 2% less in January-April of the current year, were hired by IT companies than the same period last year. Over the same four months, more than 8,000 employees resigned from IT companies, 62% more than in the same period of 2021.
“At such a pace of departure of ITSHNI from companies, after two months of the dismissed, about the same may turn out to be about as much as the whole last year,” said Dev.by experts.
