Australia Reserve Bank (RBA) will return to the discussion of the new design of 5-dollar banknotes, on which the portrait of the British monarch should have changed the traditional drawings of the Aborigines.
This was reported in the letter of the head of the regulator Philip Lawy.
“We returned to the choice of design for a banknote with a dignity of 5 Australian dollars. The question of placing a portrait of the monarch on it is of national importance, and we request the opinion of the government regarding whether the portrait of King Charles III should replace the image of Elizabeth II,” it is indicated In a letter.
As Lawy explained, if the Australian government intends to place the king’s portrait on a 5-dollar banknote, then the reserve bank will “request the corresponding image from the royal family.”
“If another decision is made, we will offer a new design in which we will pay tribute to the culture and the history of the First Australians,” he said.
RBA also noted that the development and print of new banknotes will be occupied for several years, but the bank has a reserve of bills that should be enough for at least 3 years.
