Indonesian rescuers discovered the bodies of 11 climbers who died as a result of the eruption of the Merapy volcano in the agam region of the West Sumatra Province.
This was announced by the head of the search and rescue service in the province of West Sumatra Abdul Malik.
According to him, at least 12 climbers are considered missing, their search continues.
In turn, Hari Agustian, representative of the Padanga search and rescue service, the administrative center of the Western Sumatra said that 52 out of 75 climbers were rescued, who began climbing the mountain on December 2.
According to him, eight of them are hospitalized with burns that received as a result of the eruption of the volcano.
In the center of volcanology and the mitigation of the geological dangers of Indonesia, they reported on the eve that the Mespi volcano was throwing ash to a height of about three kilometers, and the clouds of hot ash move to the north.
It was also reported that in the last few weeks, the authorities have closely monitored the “behavior” of the volcano Merapy, which has shown activity since January.
