Extreme heat that gripped the Philippines caused the temporary closure of schools in some cities of the country. According to the Philippine News Agency (PNA), an increase in temperature led to increased precautions in educational institutions, especially in the capital of Manila.
Manila Hani Lakuna Mayor reported in her account on social networks that in accordance with the recommendations of the National Council to reduce the risks of disasters and their management, the educational process in the capital was suspended.
The lacuna noted that the temperature in the manila will fluctuate between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius, and by noon can reach 42 degrees.
In addition, schools were temporarily closed in cities such as Las Pyvenas, Paranak and Marikin.
The statement of the Ministry of Health of the Philippines emphasized the threat of diseases caused by heat. It is reported that solar convulsions, thermal exhaustion, headache, vomiting and dizziness may occur. Without proper intervention, such conditions can lead to loss of consciousness, convulsions, a thermal shock and even death.
The department recommended people who experience symptoms of overheating, remain in well -ventilated, shady and cool places, and also attach cold compresses to the head, face, neck, armpits, ankles and groin. Citizens are strongly advised to drink a lot of water and limit stay on the street in the daytime.
The Philippine atmospheric geophysical and astronomical service recognizes temperatures from 42 to 51 degrees as “dangerous”.
