The National Olympic Committees of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of sports. This was reported by the press service of the Tajik NOK.
The document was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the NOC Tajikistan Zulfikor by Gul Ahmadzoda and General Secretary of NOC Iran Mehdi Alinezhada.
The agreement provides for the development of partnership in such areas as the training of coaches and judges, conducting joint sports, exchange of experience, as well as the use of infrastructure and academic capabilities of both countries.
It is noted that the goal of the initiative is to strengthen sports ties between the states of the region and increase their role in the Olympic movement of Asia.
The sports agreement has become part of a wider strategy for deepening relations between Tehran and Dushanbe.
In January 2025, Iranian President Masud Cyzeshkin and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met in Dushanbe, as a result of which 23 bilateral documents were signed at once.
These agreements covered key spheres – from economics and trade to transport, science, culture and security.
In particular, the parties agreed on the strengthening of economic ties, the expansion of trade, simplifying customs procedures and developing transport logistics through Iranian ports of Chabahar and Bender-Abbas.
