The new Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carny announced the dissolution of the parliament and the appointment of early elections for April 28.
Carni decided to hold early elections against the backdrop of a political confrontation with US President Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister explained that the decision to hold early elections is dictated by the need to correct problems in the country’s economy as soon as possible and react to the tariff policy of the American administration.
“We are faced with the most serious crisis in our history because of the unfair trade actions of President Trump and the threats of our sovereignty,” Karni said.
The politician emphasized the need to build a new Canadian economy, which will work in the interests of the whole people.
The decision of the leader of the liberal party of Karni, who replaced Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after his resignation, was taken about two weeks after taking office.
