Earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred off coast of Japan

A earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred near the islands of Ogasavar in Japan.

As the Main Meteorological Agency of Japan (JMA) reports, the underground shocks were recorded at 09:39 local time. The focus of the earthquake lay at a depth of 50 km.

The threat of tsunami did not act.

Ogasavara Islands, known as Bonin Islands, are located 1000 km southeast of Tokyo and 1600 km northwest of the island of GUAM in the western part of the Pacific Ocean.
