EBRR Will Provide Mongolia In Implementation Of Long -term Goals In Energy Sector

The Government of Mongolia and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a memorandum of cooperation in the development of renewable energy sources (VIE) and the achievement of the country’s climatic goals, Montzame reports.

Signatures under the document were set by the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Togmidin Dorzhhand and the first Vice President of the EBRD Jurgen Rigaterinka.

Dorzhkhand emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation with the EBRD is fully consistent with the current state policy of Mongolia and contributes to the implementation of its long -term goals in the energy sector.

As part of the Memorandum of Cooperation, the Mongolian government will study the possibility of obtaining support from the EBRD for projects for the production of solar and wind energy, as well as energy accumulation technologies.

EBRR will also support in the preparation of technical and economic justifications and environmental assessments for the construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power stations with adjustable power.

An important project will be the construction of solar power plants with a capacity of up to 300 megavatts, which is planned to be completed and commissioned by 2028, with the connection to the power system along the new air lines of power transmission.

In addition, the parties agreed to jointly develop a strategy for renewable power plants and a road map in low -carbon energy, and cooperate in the implementation of projects corresponding to the goals set forth in the strategy.
