After the declaration of the “internal armed conflict” in Ecuador, 1534 members of the criminal gang were detained.
According to the government, 158 of the detained members of the armed gang were arrested.
Operations are carried out as part of the cooperation of the police and the military. During the operation, 5 gang members were killed, two police officers were killed.
In addition, as part of the operations, 11 police officers held by armed persons were released, as well as 575 units of firearms and 478 needlework explosives, as well as about 5.6 tons of narcotic substances.
Ecuador’s authorities announced on January 9 a 60-day state of emergency and introduced a commandant hour after the leader of the largest Ecuadorian gang “Los Choneros” Jose Adolfo Dimensions Williamar, nicknamed “Fito” fled from prison.
According to the decree, a commandant hour was introduced from 23:00 to 05:00 in the morning.
