“, in the context of attempts to destabilize from the armed groups, the border will be closed from Saturday, February 8, until Monday, February 10,” wrote President Ecuador Daniel Noboa on the social network X.
In addition to closing the boundaries with Colombia and Peru, the authorities will attract the army and the police to ensure the safety of elections and prevent possible attacks from criminal groups.
In the meantime, Noboa, who continues his election campaign, met with voters in the center of Guayakil as part of the struggle for the re -election.
On February 9, more than 13 million citizens of Ecuador will go to the elections to elect the president, vice president and 151 deputies of the National Assembly.
About 16 candidates participate in the elections, however, the main rival of the 37-year-old Noboa is considered the leader of the “Civil Revolution” movement Luis Gonsales.
