Universal elections in Turkey can postpone for a period of 6 months to a year.
This is reported by Habertürk with reference to sources.
According to the publication, the Supreme Electoral Commission (YSK) of the Republic will make an appropriate initiative.
Elections in Turkey were scheduled for May 14, but a number of politicians called for a vote due to the destructive earthquake in the country. In particular, the ex-speaker of the parliament, former Deputy Prime Minister Buent Arynch, made such a proposal.
Habertürk notes that the Turkish authorities will first have to decide on the elections.
“Then YSK will say that it became virtually impossible to hold the elections completely in 4 areas and partially in 6 areas (due to the consequences of earthquakes), and will ask you to postpone the election,” the newspaper writes.
The material indicates that the vote can be postponed up to a year.
