The new owner of Twitter Ilon Musk published the next part of the correspondence of the former leadership. The new issue of Twitter tells in detail about the relationship between the social network and state institutions, including how the US government demanded that the social network block almost 250,000 accounts.
“The US Government Agency demanded to block 250 thousand accounts, including journalists and Canadian officials,” Mask wrote in a comment to journalist Matt Tybbie who published an investigation.
Tybbie reported to grow and endless pressure from the US government on Twitter to work hand in hand with Congress in order to track down Russia’s intervention in the platform, in particular, during the 2017 elections.
Nevertheless, the Twitter formed for the search for Russian influence on the platform demonstrated the “lack of coordinated efforts” from Russia, and the sources of propaganda were single accounts without advertising support.
Despite such conclusions, the social networks platform still began cooperation with Congress and introduced censorship to combat the alleged Russian misinformation.
, under pressure from the US government, Twitter blocked almost 250,000 accounts, including accounts related to journalists, some of which cast doubt on the origin of the pandemic, and accounts that were signed on two or more accounts of Chinese diplomats.
