The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has disseminated information in connection with the local displacement of soil masses that occurred this morning in the zone of an earlier landslide in the Baku village of Badamdar. According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the nearest buildings were not damaged.
It was noted that on the basis of a project developed by the Ministry of Emergencies in cooperation with Japanese specialists, three drainage wells with a diameter of 3.5 meters and a depth of 30 meters each are being drilled in the upper part of the slope, where the soil mass has shifted. Work on one of the wells has already been completed, drilling of the rest is planned to be completed in the near future. Wells will contribute to the complete drainage of groundwater in the territory. After that, the work on the slope will be continued, a retaining reinforced concrete wall will be built along the route. These measures will prevent landslides in this area.
As the department said, today’s displacement of soil masses was expected. For this reason, the soil accumulated here was not removed from the territory. The necessary equipment was delivered here to put into operation all three drainage wells as soon as possible. Work continues on schedule.
