“We will do everything to establish peace in the region.” This journalists announced this to Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan before an official visit to Ukraine, reports TRT Haber.
According to him, this year marks 30 years to establish diplomatic relations between Turkey and Ukraine and this visit is important for the country.
“During the meeting with the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, we will discuss our bilateral relations in all aspects and strengthen our connections, signing agreements in different areas,” said Erdogan.
According to the Turkish leader in recent years, relations between Kiev and Ankara have overcome a huge distance.
“Despite the coronavirus pandemic, in 2021 we set a new record in the turnover between the countries. Compared to 2020, this figure grew by 60%,” said Regep Tayyip Erdogan.
Speaking about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Turkish president stressed that Ankara supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
“We, as the country of the Black Sea region, invite all parties to the dialogue in the name of the world in the region. It is obvious that the conflict must be resolved by a peaceful way on the basis of international law. We are ready to fulfill their duty to establish peace and trust in our region. I exhibit special care against Crimean Tatars, which are one of the main elements in our relations with Ukraine. On the agenda of negotiations in Kiev, this question will take the first place, “said the Turkish president.
Erdogan also noted that after meeting with Zelensky he will hold talks with Putin in Ankara.
“Today we will meet with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. Then, after the visit to China, Turkey will visit Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Without these two visits and negotiations it would be wrong to take any steps. I hope for the de essociation of the conflict between two Countries. As an important country in the region, we cannot simply observe the negative events that occur between Russia and Ukraine, “Erdogan stressed.
