Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the national team on the release of the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany.
The Turkish team made its way to the next stage of the tournament, defeating rivals from Austria in the 1/8 finals of 2: 1.
At the end of the match, the head of state contacted the team members by phone. The Turkish leader talked with the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Ashkin Baku, the president of the Turkish football Federation Mehmet Buyukekshi, the team coach, the Italian specialist Vincenzo Montella, as well as the players of the national team Arda Guler and the Barysh Alper Yilmaz.
The president in Italian thanked Vincenzo Montella for the successful game of the national team. He noted that he could not personally visit the team matches because of a dense schedule, but carefully monitors the performances of Turkish football players at the championship.
In an interview with Arda Guller and Barysh Alper Yilmaz, President Erdogan especially noted the high professional level of these athletes.
On July sixth, the Turkish national team will have a match with the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the Che-2024.
