Presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey, scheduled for June 18, can be postponed for an earlier term, said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a meeting with regional representatives of the ruling party of justice and development (PSR).
“We can update the date of the election by transferring them to an earlier term,” Erdogan said, without naming the date.
Local political scientists call on possible elections on April 30, May 7 or 14.
Earlier, the official representative of the PSR Omer Celic stated that the elections may take place earlier.
“We have the will to hold these elections on June 18th. But there are evaluations of the situation due to the fact that some problems may arise. This will be the period when our citizens go abroad,” Chelik said.
At the same time, he noted that the possible transfer of the voting date will not be a decision that can be regarded as early elections.
