The former Minister of Economy of Turkey, now the head of the Party of Democracy and the breakthrough Ali Babajan is ready to run for the coming presidential elections in 2023, if the opposition does not decide on a single candidate. He stated this in an interview with Habertürk.
He said that the Opposition “Six Block”, which he represents, is working on the return of a parliamentary form of government in Turkey instead of a presidential one. According to Babajan, one of the main tasks of the Six Block is to ensure the safety of the elections. “The safety of the elections is extremely important. For the example of the [municipal] elections in 2019, we saw how they manipulated. We survived all this on the example of Istanbul,” TASS quoted him.
Another important task for opposition Babajan called the solution to the economic problems of Turkey.
Babajan from 2002 to 2015 headed the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Economy of Turkey. He was one of the co -founders of the ruling party of justice and development (PSR) and the closest ally of its leader and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey are scheduled for June 2023. The ruling “People’s Alliance”, which includes the PSR and the Party of the Nationalist Movement (PND), headed by the PSP President, previously announced that the current candidate will be the current president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The opposition does not yet call its candidate, saying that he will do this when he considers it necessary.
