Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at an event dedicated to the 49th anniversary since the beginning of the Turkish Armed Forces to maintain peace in Cyprus aimed at protecting the rights of the Turkish community of the island.
The President of Turkey, commenting on the long process of negotiations on different platforms around Cyprus, said: “Finally, everyone should understand that the federal state system is impossible in Cyprus.”
According to him, the implementation of this principle is necessary so that representatives of the Turkish and Greek communities of Cyprus “peacefully live side by side, without the atmosphere of domination, tension and conflicts”.
President Erdogan also turned to the international community with an appeal to remove the restrictions on the political nature in relation to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
He once again expressed support for the right business of the Turkic people of Cyprus:
“We will not abandon our efforts to achieve equal sovereignty and the international status of the Turks of Cyprus,” said the head of the Turkish state.
The president repeated that Turkey calls for the implementation of the idea of creating two equal states on the island of Cyprus.
“cannot be separated from the world and ignore the rights of the ancient and significant people of the island – Turks -kypriots. I repeat my historical call voiced from the UN rostrum: do not turn away from the realities of the island and recognize TRSK as soon as possible,” President Erdogan emphasized.
