Erdogan: If EU Wants To Maintain Its Significance, Then It Can Only Do It With Full Membership Of Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took part in a joint press conference organized after the completion of negotiations with Poland Prime Minister Donald Tuski in the presidential complex in Ankara.

He noted that Türkiye and Poland are two key allies with the two largest NATO Armies in Europe, located on the eastern and southern flanks of the Alliance.

The President, following the results of negotiations, said that Türkiye and Poland are determined to increase the volume of trade and investment to a figure of $ 15 billion.

Touching the new realities that have developed against the backdrop of global changes, the president emphasized that if the European Union wants to prevent the loss of its significance and power, then it can only be done by a full membership of Turkey.

The head of state praised the position of Ukraine in negotiations to achieve the world.

“We consider it positive that Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. We hope that Russia will also respond constructively,” he said.

According to him, the position of Turkey regarding this war was extremely clear from the very first day.

“We wish our two neighbors to end the war with a fair world,” Erdogan added.

The president said that if the development of events allow Russia and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table, Ankara is ready to provide any assistance, including the organization of negotiations.

Erdogan urged to put an end to conflicts and wars.

“Our region is impregnated with wars, conflicts and tears. We hope that the region will reach peace and stability. Türkiye will continue efforts for this,” summarized Record Tayyip Erdogan.
