Turkey will continue to fulfill its obligations under NATO in the event of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The president of Turkey Regep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with Turkish TV channel NTV.
The Turkish leader did not specify what steps are Turkey and what commitments as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance are talking.
“Now we want to find a solution to the current crisis by dialogue and diplomacy. We continue to call on Russia and Ukraine to behave constructively and restrained. But Turkey will fulfill the requirements of NATO membership,” Erdogan noted.
he added that Turkey from the very beginning maintained the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. “We have taken a clear position against the steps of Russia in violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, especially the Annexia of the Crimea,” said Erdogan.
