A book prepared by the Directorate of the Presidential Administration was awarded to the leaders in the sidelines of the Big Twenty summit.
In the book, the Turkish leader emphasized the importance of global solidarity to achieve success in the fight against the “triple crisis of the planet”, namely, with climate change, the loss of biodiversity and environmental pollution.
, however, international solidarity is gradually destroyed, and cooperation is replaced by egocentric approaches. But all humanity is paid for this, primarily the vulnerable countries of Africa and Asia, ”said Erdogan.
According to the president, Turkey, in comparison with developed countries, is almost no problems associated with climate change and environmental pollution.
“Despite this, we not only fulfill our obligations, but also support the work carried out on the global level on this vital issue regarding the general future of our world and humanity,” the head of state emphasized.
Erdogan noticed that Turkey made a significant contribution to the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement in accordance with its goal, which consists in achieving “zero emissions and environmentally friendly development by 2053.”
“We strive to make Turkey cleaner and greener thanks to many projects, from zero waste to renewable energy, from national gardens to an increase in the area of forests, from wastewater purification to air quality,” the head of state said.
The Turkish leader recalled that Turkey ranks fifth in Europe and 12th place in the world in terms of the number of renewable installed capacity.
According to the president, the steps of Turkey in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources made it possible to prevent greenhouse gas emissions by 90 million tons in carbon equivalent.
He noted that the project “Zero waste”, initiated by the wife of the Turkish leader Emine Erdogan, turned into a global movement, and the UN announced on March 30 by a “International Day without waste”.
The book “Turkey’s Way to a suitable world with zero waste” contains detailed information about the Zero waste project.
The book consists of four chapters: “Sfabber Management and Environmental Problems”, “Institutional Structure of waste management in Turkey”, “Legal regulation of waste management in Turkey” and “Net waste movement”.
