Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published an appeal on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Sivas Congress, which played a significant role in the success of the national liberation struggle of the Turkish people. This is stated in the report of the Relations Department under the Administration of the President of Turkey.
“The torch, lit 105 years ago in Sivas with the desire for independence and love for the Motherland, covers our path today,” said the Turkish leader.
The head of state expressed confidence that “young generations, proud of the glorious history of their country, have the same spirit and consciousness as their heroic ancestors will lead the country to achieve the goal – centuries of Turkey.”
The president noted that at the Sivas Congress, the Turkish people confirmed their unity and solidarity, and resolutely overcoming all kinds of difficulties, triumphantly completed the struggle for independence.
He emphasized that the historical decisions made at the Congress, which became one of the important starting points in the history of the country, paved the way for the liberation war and determined the future of the Turkish Republic.
“Today we are taking our steps preserving the commitment made by the decisions adopted at the Sivas Congress, which laid the foundations of the Turkish Republic. On the anniversary of the Sivassky Congress, I respect all our heroes, primarily the Gazi of Mustafa Kemal, and with the most sincere I glorify the inhabitants of Sivas and all our fellow citizens who accepted this congress, ”the message says.
