Erdogan: Turkey seeks to bring exports to 400 billion by 2028

The visual indicator of the success of Turkey’s exporters is the fact that Turkish production can be purchased today even in the most remote corners of the world. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking on Saturday in Istanbul at a meeting of the Union of Exporters of Turkey.

The head of state emphasized that over all the years of the leadership of Turkey, he perceived exporters as “satellites sharing a single fate.” “The decision of the barriers on the path of exporting companies was and remains the priority of the government. It is thanks to close interaction with representatives of the private sector, today we are fixing new export records,” the Turkish leader stated.

According to him, the total number of Turkish exporting companies in 2022 reached 114,561, which is 14 percent more than the previous year.

Erdogan noted that the trend for the growth of the Turkish economy remains the 11th quarter in a row and remains unchanged contrary to the consequences of the February earthquakes that have claimed the lives of more than 50 thousand inhabitants of the country.

At the same time, modern Türkiye is one of the significant production bases of the world.

The Turkish leader recalled that at the time of the coming to power, the volume of Turkish exports was at the level of $ 36 billion a year, while at the end of 2022 this indicator reached $ 254.2 billion, which was 12.99 percent exceeded data for the data for 2021. “Turkey today occupies 1.02 percent of world trade, and this is not a limit! Contrary to negative trends in the global economy, we plan to bring to $ 265 billion, and according to the results of the next year, to $ 285 billion,” – assured the politician.

Services export for last year increased by 47.3 percent – to $ 90 billion, the president continued.

The Head of State attracted attention to the achievements of the country’s defense industry. “The supply of defense products abroad last year increased by 37 percent to $ 4.3 billion,” he said.

“According to the indicators for May of this year, Turkey exports compared to the same month of last year grew by 14.4 percent – from 189 to 21.6 billion dollars,” continued Erdogan.

He assured that the Turkish government will solve one of the main problems for the country’s economic development – will reduce the level of inflation to an unambiguous indicator.

The Turkish president, to top it up, outlined a new goal in the field of export: “We are striving to bring export indicators to $ 400 billion or higher by 2028.”
