Erdogan: Turkey will not refuse to build a channel “Istanbul”

Turkey under no circumstances will refuse to implement the project of the Istanbul channel, which is designed to become a new shipping artery connecting the Black and Marmara Sea. This was stated by the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to the president, the construction of the “Istanbul” channel will begin in the sooner time. “The” Istanbul “channel is the largest and most strategically important infrastructure project of Turkey. The process of preparation for the implementation of this project is nearing an end,” said Erdogan, reports Anadolu.

The head of the Turkish state said that the report on the impact of the Istanbul channel was completed on the environment, taking into account the position of 56 structures and organizations, opinions over 200 scientists, the media authorities and representatives of the public. “Turkey begins and completes the construction of the” Istanbul “channel, they want this certain circles or not. Only the opinion of the Turkish people is important for us,” Erdogan stressed.

The President of Turkey noted that the length of the Istanbul channel will be 45 km, depth 21 m. This channel will create new opportunities for the region, noted Erdogan.
