Turkey exports in 2023 increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous year, reaching the record in the country’s history $ 809 billion.
This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Thus, this indicator exceeded the purpose of our medium -term program of $ 255 billion,” said the Turkish leader during a speech in Istanbul.
According to Erdogan, the coefficient of import covering in 2023 increased by 0.8 percentage points compared to the previous year and reached 70.7%.
The Turkish leader emphasized that in 2023 the country’s foreign trade deficit decreased by 3.2% in annual calculus.
“with the exception of July, our trade gap has declined over the past 7 months of 2023,” the president explained.
The head of state said that Turkey is seeking to increase the export of goods and services in 2024 to more than $ 375 billion. “Turkey has more than enough opportunities to achieve this goal,” he said.
