Disagreements around water resources are the basis of many tense situations around the world.
This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking with a speech to the participants in the meeting on the ecosystem of agriculture in Istanbul.
According to him, similar processes are observed in countries in Asia, the American continent, North Africa and the Middle East.
“Due to the negative consequences of climate change, the sources of water and the reservoir become zones of conflict,” said the Turkish leader.
The President also noted Turkey’s contribution to the prevention of a global food crisis. “Thanks to the efforts of Turkey, the Black Sea initiative managed to prevent hunger in many regions, primarily in Africa,” he said.
In his speech, the Turkish president also affected the colonial past of the Western countries. “Colonialists for which a drop of oil was more expensive than a drop of blood, resorted to any means to ensure their dominance,” the politician said.
“We are very well known about the actions in Africa of Western countries that read the moralizing about human rights,” the Turkish leader added.
