The European Union approved the eighth package of sanctions against Russia, including the ceiling for the price of oil it sold, writes Bloomberg. Restrictive measures will also affect steel products, electronics, chemicals, spare parts for aircraft, the provision of IT, engineering and legal services.
It is noted that diamonds did not fall under the restrictions, the ban on the purchase of which was proposed to introduce at the beginning.
“I welcome today’s agreement of the EU members under the 8th package of sanctions. We acted quickly and decisively. We never recognize either fictitious referenda or the annexation of territories in Ukraine,” the chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der wrote on Twitter Layen
According to the Czech Republic, which now presides in the EU, sanctions will ban the sea supplies of Russian oil to third countries at a price above the agreed (the so -called ceiling). Earlier, the EU prohibited the provision of financial and insurance services for such operations, now transports have been added to them. The prohibitions will enter into force on December 5, when the European embargo should earn.
