EU Approved Beginning Of Negotiations With Armenia On Liberalization Of Visa Regime

The European Union approved the beginning of negotiations with Armenia on the liberalization of the visa regime.

The EU Council of Foreign Affairs expressed satisfaction with the decision to start negotiations on the liberalization of the visa regime with Armenia.

The possibility of liberalizing the visa regime will be evaluated “in case of complete compliance with the criteria”, and the responsibility for the determination and assessment of these criteria will be carried by the Council of the EU and the participating countries, follows from the message.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan expressed satisfaction with the decision of the EU Foreign Council and thanked the EU and foreign ministers of the participating countries.

In the publication in X, the head of the Armenian diplomatic mission called the decision “historical.” “This is a very important milestone in Armenia -Es, based on common values ​​and principles,” Mirzoyan wrote.

The liberalization of the visa regime will allow citizens of Armenia to make short -term visits to the countries of the Schengen zone without the need to obtain a visa. It may take several years to complete negotiations.
