EU citizens banned entry to UK without passports

Starting today, citizens of the European Union will need a passport to enter the UK. From October 1, the United Kingdom entered into force the rule that equalized residents of the EU, the European Economic Zone (EEA) and Switzerland with the citizens of third countries, transfers TASS.

The decision was announced by London back in October last year. The main change in the rules of entry was declared a fight against the fake identity cards.

New rules do not apply to EU, EEZ and Switzerland living in the UK, which until June 30, 2021 managed to submit documents to obtain permanent accommodation. They will be able to enter the Kingdom of the National Entitual Efficiency until December 31, 2025.
