European countries will achieve such a reduction in gas demand that will allow them to “calmly survive the average winter.” This was stated by the Kadri Simson energy commissar, reports Reuters.
She noted that the transaction to reduce fuel consumption in the EU “should ensure a sufficient level of savings in order to survive the winter even in case of a complete stop of gas supplies from Russia.”
In turn, the Minister of Environmental Modernization and Transformation of Italy Roberto Chingolani expressed confidence that the country will be “almost independent” from gas from Russia to winter.
He noted that gas storage facilities in Italy are filled by more than 70%, so there is no reason for concern, the ANSA agency writes.
