EU Expressed “full Support” Of Denmark In Light Of Trump’s Statements In Greenlandy

The head of the European Council Antoniu Coshta expressed the “full” support of Denmark in the light of statements by US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland’s control.

Answering EURONEWS questions, the head of the European Council said that the territorial integrity of Denmark is a “fundamental issue” for the EU.

“We are ready to defend the principles of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as this was done in the war that Russia began against Ukraine,” Koshta said.

“We should not refuse to protect these principles (national sovereignty and territorial integrity), when the territorial integrity of the EU member state is put on the map. The territorial integrity of Denmark, its sovereignty and the stability of its boundaries, as you can imagine, are a very significant issue for us, ”he said.

Kota emphasized that Greenland is part of Denmark.

“Denmark is a sovereign state. Denmark itself determines its interests, and the EU will support Denmark,” he concluded.

“EU will protect its interests”

Kosta also commented on a possible increase in duties for European countries, voiced by Trump.

According to him, Brussels expects to establish a “constructive dialogue” with the new US administration.

“Just like the United States want to protect their own interests, the EU is responsible for protecting the interests of their companies, its citizens and unions. This dialogue should take place in a normal and calm format, without concern,” Kostan said. < /p>

EU “wants to maintain good relations” with the United States, ”he added.
