EU is ready to support Kyrgyzstan in the field of renewable energy, said the Commissioner of the European Union on International Partnership Joseph Sicel at a meeting with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov.
During the negotiations held on March 17 at the Yantimak Ordo, Sickela emphasized that the EU was interested in the support of Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of projects for renewable energy sources. He noted that the country has great potential for the development of this sphere, and the European Union is ready to assist in the implementation of initiatives that will bring sustainable and long -term results for the region.
President Zhaparov noted that the European Union is a reliable partner of Kyrgyzstan since the acquisition of independence. He expressed confidence that the agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation signed in Brussels in 2024 will be an important step in strengthening trade, economic and investment ties between the parties.
Zhaparov also spoke about the positive changes in the economy of Kyrgyzstan, including a significant increase in the state budget and GDP in recent years. He noted the importance of combating corruption and strengthening of state institutions, as well as an increase in trust in the judicial system.
The President proposed to the European Union cooperation in promoting green initiatives, such as the development of low -carbon technologies and the transition to renewable energy sources. Zhaparov also noted the importance of supporting initiatives for the sustainable development of the mountain regions of Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding between the Kyrgyzstan government, the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is aimed at developing irrigation technologies and increasing the country’s stability to climate change.
