The evaluative group of the European Union arrived in Armenia to discuss the possibility of deploying a new civil mission on the border with Azerbaijan, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan accepted the members of the EU technical assessment group led by Markin Vidgeta.
The parties affected the work of the mission of the EU observers, which ended on December 19. In this context, Mirzoyan highly appreciated the role of an observation mission in strengthening stability in the region and expressed readiness to continue cooperation.
The EU foreign ministers in October 2022 agreed on the institution of the first civil mission to solve problems on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. They sent up to 40 EU experts to the Armenian side of the border with Azerbaijan for monitoring, analyzing and drawing up reports on the situation in the region.
