EU told how they will cope with gas crisis

The plan for overcoming the gas crisis in the European Union was presented by the chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen. It consists of 5 points that will help European countries cope with a critical situation, writes Deutsche Welle.

The European Commission intends to set price to gas from Russia, enter the limit for using electricity during peak hours and contributions for companies that have won energy prices. “We will offer the marginal price for Russian gas. We must cut the income of Russia that Putin uses to finance this brutal war in Ukraine,” said Ursula von der Lyain at a press conference.

In addition to restrictions on the price of Russian gas, the European Union wants to establish a restriction of € 200 euros for megavatt-hour for the price of electricity produced using low-carbon technologies.

The authorities will introduce limits on the use of electricity during peak hours, will provide liquidity of energy communal enterprises to overcome the volatility of markets. For oil and gas companies that have won by increasing prices for energy production, the introduction of a “contribution of solidarity”. The superprofits of companies will be sent to support citizens.
