the EU will continue to support the “tireless efforts” of Turkey and the UN to resume the Black Sea grain initiative. This was stated by the Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel in social networks X (formerly Twitter).
“Russia must stop using food as a weapon. We are obliged to convince the Russian Federation to return to the Black Sea Grain initiative,” he said.
Borrel in an article for the British newspaper The Guardian indicated that Russia’s exit from the agreement last month caused a sharp increase in wholesale prices for wheat and corn.
“While the world is fighting interruptions in supplies and high prices, Russia now pretends to solve the problem that it itself has created, referring to vulnerable countries, especially in Africa, with proposals for bilateral grain supplies,” – noted the head of European diplomacy.
Borrel noted that the EU will continue to support the “tireless efforts” of Turkey and the UN to resume the “grain transaction.”
“We are calling for an international community and all countries to increase the support of global food security. We urge all our partners to call Russia to return to negotiations and stop aiming at the agricultural infrastructure of Ukraine, as the African Union did. We can return to Russia with a single vote and a clear position To an agreement, ”said the EU Supreme Representative.
