“The Council decided to increase the volume of macrofinance assistance to Moldova, which was agreed a year ago. In April 2022, the Council adopted a law that allows the EU to provide financial assistance to Moldova in the amount of 150 million euros. Today the Council increased this amount by 145 million euro, which means that the total volume of assistance to Moldova will be 295 million euros, ”the EU Council said in a statement of the EU Council.
The document also explains that the EU macro -financial assistance is aimed at supporting economic stabilization and the program of structural reforms in Moldova, complementing the resources provided under the financial agreement with the IMF.
The statement notes that 220 million euros will be provided by loans, and 75 million euros – grants, which will contribute to the satisfaction of the needs of the Moldovan payment balance.
