Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the share of Russian gas in the procurement of the European Union has been reduced by half. This was stated by the Supreme Commissioner on Foreign Policy Affairs Josep Borrel in an interview with Deutsche Welle.
“before the start of the war, this share was 40%, and now – 20%,” Borrel said, noting that it is impossible “to demand to completely stop the purchase of gas in one night.”
Borrel emphasized that Eurosyuz “cannot work miracles.”
Against the backdrop of the refusal of deliveries from Russia, the European Union, at the end of July, agreed to reduce gas consumption by 15% of their average over the past five years for the nearest winter season.
