the European Union is ready for a long war in Ukraine and will support Kyiv as much as it takes, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Tobias Billstrom, whose country presides in the EU.
According to him, the help will be comprehensive: political, military, economic and humanitarian. One of the ways to support will be new restrictions against Russia. “Sanctions are the best EU instrument that will help Ukraine win this war, which is the ultimate goal of what we are doing,” said Billstrem, quoted by Reuters.
Since the beginning of the war, the EU has adopted nine packages of sanctions. New restrictions may include additional measures to freeze assets and prohibitions on trips for Russian persons participating in the war. It is also planned to tighten the import of goods that can be used for military purposes even more tightly.
