European Union is preparing measures to go around anti -Russian sanctions

the European Union (EU) should strive to confiscate the assets of those who are trying to circumvent anti -Russian sanctions, and transfer them to Ukraine, the corresponding directive is already being prepared, the European Commissioner of Justice and the Supreme of the Law Didier Reynders said.

The largest states frozen assets are Belgium (€ 3.5 billion), Luxembourg (almost € 2.5 billion), Italy (€ 2.3 billion), Germany (€ 2.2 billion), Austria and Ireland (€ 1.8 billion each), France (€ 1.3 billion) and Spain (more than € 1 billion).

According to the data provided by The Irish Times, the assets belong to 1239 persons falling under sanctions and 116 companies included in the EU sanctions list due to their connections with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

the European Commission (EC) hopes to launch a directive for several days, which would allow “not only to freeze assets, but also confiscate them,” noted in the ek.
