European Union offers cooperation to achieve peace in Caucasus

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, said that the EU was ready to work closely with Azerbaijan and Armenia to achieve security, peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

“The EU is closely monitored by the situation and is still committed to deepening his cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan, in order to closely cooperate in overcoming tension and contribute to creating a safe, stable, peaceful and prosperous Southern Caucasus for the benefit of all people living in the region”, – said Borrel, whose words are given on the website of the European Parliament.

The diplomat noted that the President of the European Council Charles Michelle during a recent meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia emphasized the importance of humanitarian gestures from both sides to strengthen trust and ensure peaceful coexistence.

“both leaders announced the desire to quickly move towards a peace agreement between their countries. In addition to contacts at a high level, the EU conducts regular dialogues on human rights with both countries, respectively, during which the humanitarian aspects of the conflict are considered,” said Borrel.
