The ban on transporting Russian oil is no longer included in the sixth package of European Union sanctions (EU) in relation to Russia, reports DPA with reference to diplomatic sources in the EU.
According to the agency, to make a decision on the inclusion of this provision in the sanctions package, further coordination is necessary at the international level, including coordination within the seven group (G7). In addition, it is indicated that Greece, Cyprus and Malta, among others, oppose this measure, because of fears, since this can unilaterally put their shipping companies in the disadvantage.
According to diplomats, despite this, the ban on European companies for oil tankers transporting Russian oil is still part of the planned sanctions against Russia. This may make it difficult to supply oil from Russia to other countries.
