The Supreme Representative of the European Union (EU) on foreign affairs and security policy Kai Kallas announced the resumption of the representative office in Damascus.
The head of European diplomacy recalled that on the eve of Damascus a senior diplomatic delegation from the EU mission was sent to Damascus, which during the civil war was transferred from Damascus to Beirut.
“We have already begun the process of reasonable interaction with the new leadership and civil society,” said Kallas.
She noted that the EU is ready to resume the work of the EU representative office in Damascus. “We want it to work again in full force,” Kallas said.
According to the European politician, such a step of the EU is important for constructive interaction with Damascus.
“(after the collapse of the BAAS regime) Syria expects a positive, but uncertain future. We must work with regional players.
