The European Council for Ukraine reported that the application for the membership of Ukraine and Georgia in the European Union will be considered in June, follows from the information on the official website of the EU Council.
The report stated that the European Council “takes note of the preparation of the Commission’s conclusions on applications for membership in the EU” Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia and will return to the discussion of this issue at the June meeting.
Ukraine applied for joining the European Union in February, after Russian invasion. The Ukrainian ambassador Andrei Melnik claimed that Ukraine could join NATO as quickly as Finland and Sweden. In early May, the Chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Lyain said that the EU would decide on the status of Kyiv in June.
Following Ukraine, applications for membership in the EU submitted Moldova and Georgia.
